On May 17th local time, the International SOS Foundation announced the list of winners for the 2018 Global Enterprise Duty of Care Awards in Chicago, USA. Qinghai Dachaidan Mining Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yin Tai Resources Co., Ltd., won the Best Remote Healthcare Special Mention.This award aims to recognize enterprises or individuals who have effectively prevented or reduced accidents and diseases through initiating medical and health measures in challenging or remote areas, and achieved good clinical medical results.
Qinghai Dachaidan Mining Co., Ltd. is located in an extremely remote area at an altitude of 3,300 meters. The nearest municipal hospital is a 4-hour drive away. There are health hazards on-site, including high-altitude reactions and complications, diseases, occupational hazards, and personal injuries. In 2006, after evaluation, the company decided to cooperate with international SOS to establish a licensed clinic to reduce high-altitude risks and safeguard the health of employees. The clinic is staffed with two doctors and two nurses, providing 24/7 medical services for employees, contractors, visitors, and nearby residents over the past 12 years. The clinic is also equipped with ambulances, medical equipment, and medication to provide optimal healthcare services.
The company has consistently integrated its obligation and responsibility to care for employees into its practice of sustainable development, using international occupational safety and health standards. They utilize the services of international standard medical consultants to conduct job adaptation assessments, occupational health consultations, and develop prevention programs.
In addition, the company collaborates with the two nearest local hospitals to provide a "green channel" service for employees, offering payment guarantees and rapid surgical support. They have also purchased round-the-clock remote medical assistance to support off-site rescue, such as hospital referrals, outpatient medical monitoring, and evacuations.
In the past twelve years, the number of major accidents has been below six, significantly lower than the average level in similar industries.
